Pastor’s Note for Jan 8

Hi Everyone,

Happy New Year! Please know that we are praying for you as we start 2022! Ephesians speaks to us about using our time wisely and making every minute count. What a great theme for a new year. Please join us in our five-week sermon series on ‘time.’ Let’s seek to follow Jesus as we begin a new year.

As we drill down into these concepts, we welcome you to worship with us in person or online. I’m super excited to lead you on this journey and discover together new insights and guidance. Invite your friends, your neighbors and share on social media.

As written in Ephesians 5:15-17, ‘Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.’

Jesus offers you PEACE before you do anything. May God grant all of you blessings in 2022.

Pastor Jon

Pastor’s note for December 3

Church & School family and friends,

As I reflect on this year, I’m very proud of our Church and School. I’m grateful for those that have been so supportive and understanding through the pandemic. We have battled illness, conflicting federal and state mandates, updates to our physical plant to meet infection control requirements, restructuring of worship, and creation and implementation of streaming and camera teams. Those are just a few of the first things that come to mind.

Our church is strong and has weathered the storm. Through teamwork, you have shown how you can work together and collaborate. God is good; He continues to bless us!

Thank you, for the pumpkins!

Dear OV family,

Thank you for your generosity with the pumpkins and mums. They brought some color and joy to our church.

As we transition to the Christmas season, we would welcome the donation of live or faux Poinsettia plants.

May God bless you greatly.

Pastor’s note for November 24

Happy Thanksgiving Orangevale friends!

I found a recent saying that I would like to share, written by Catherine Pulsifer – “Give thanks not just on Thanksgiving Day, but every day of your life. Appreciate and never take for granted all that you have”.  We are blessed as a church for stability and loving relationships. Each of you has special gifts and I, as your pastor (and on behalf of our elder team) would like to tell you how grateful I am for your talents!

Here is a special note of encouragement from those who organized the coat drive for Afghan children:

——————————————

“We distributed 350 coats and clothes at our very first winter clothing event this weekend!

Over 50 families will be warm their first winter in the US thanks to our enthusiastic crew of volunteers, who set up our shop and helped our newcomers find the perfect coats and outfits to bundle up in, and VSP Global, Orangevale SDA Food and Clothes Closets,  Monterey Trail High School, and Fly Brave Foundation, who supported our event with their generous contributions of financial gifts, coats, and clothing.

We appreciate everyone for giving our newcomers a loving welcome by providing what they need to be comfortable this winter.”

———————————————

As we celebrate this season of gratefulness, I encourage you to appreciate even the smallest of ‘simple things’ and realize how much you are appreciated. As Galatians 6:9 reminds us, ‘So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.’

May you have a blessed Thanksgiving week!

Pastor Jon
